The floor is made up of black and white squares which make it look like a big chess board and when the orchestra is playing people just get up and dance :) Tigermousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11386636767916316587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4121337863737604730.post-39167795594042487252016-07-24T23:34:17.561+01:002016-07-24T23:34:17.561+01:00You are right I didn't go the whole way up to ...You are right I didn't go the whole way up to the North end of the bay! Kicking myself now. I thought it was a lovely town and hope to visit again some day. It's much quieter than South Bay with no tacky amusements or gift shops; there's a lovely big park there - Peaseholm Park - which has a huge boating lake with colourful dragon boats and a small island with a lovely Chinese garden at the top, also Northstead Manor Gardens where there's a lake, an open air theatre and a miniature train which runs right along to the Sea Life Centre at the far end of the promenade. Have a look at this post for some photos of North Bay- http://tigermousetales.blogspot.co.uk/2011/05/sunday-april-24th-2011-old-haunts-and.html

When I holidayed there in my teens I used to run down the steps at the side of the cliff lift to see if I could beat it to the bottom. A bit further along from the top of the cliff lift is an Italian garden and across the road is the red brick building which was used for the outside shots of the hospital in The Royal tv series several years ago.

There's so much more to Scarborough than the shops and amusements at South Bay - maybe you can make it back sometime soon and spend a couple of days there :)Tigermousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11386636767916316587noreply@blogger.com
